Lapis Lazuli
Description
Lapis Lazuli generates in medium-sized veins throughout the lower Overworld, appearing as regular lapis ore in stone and deepslate lapis ore below Y0. Each ore drops 4-9 lapis lazuli items. Lapis is essential for enchanting, being the primary material consumed during the enchantment process. It's also the only blue dye source that generates naturally underground.
How to Find
Lapis generates between Y-levels 64 and -64, with peak distribution at Y-level 0. Found in veins of up to 7 blocks. Requires stone pickaxe or better. Fortune enchantment significantly increases drops, up to 36 per ore. Also found in ancient city chests.
